Welcome to our new series, Reframing. Each week, we’ll take a common thought or feeling that NICU parents experience and gently reframe it into something more positive and empowering. Let’s reframe these difficult moments together, one thought at a time. You’re not alone, and we’re so glad you’re here. As NICU parents, it’s common to feel like we’ve somehow failed our babies or that we’re responsible for their NICU journey. You might find yourself thinking, ‘It’s my fault my baby is in the NICU.’ But let’s take a moment to reframe this thought: You did everything you could for your baby. Sometimes, things happen that are beyond our control. What truly matters is how much you love your baby and the care and presence you bring every day. The fact that you’re here, advocating for and loving your baby, shows your strength and dedication as a parent. Be gentle with yourself. It’s not your fault. Have you ever felt this way? How do you remind yourself that it’s not your fault? Share your thoughts below—we’re here to support one another
